"Basically, I'm afraid of everything in life, except filmmaking."   As good a self-described raison d'être as any for a director with a distinguished career in the European art-house world!  Danish provocateur Lars von Trier has generated no shortage of controversy, or at least hubris, in cinephile circles this year as is his wont with any of his large international releases.  But that is a well trod path at point in his career.
Suffice it to say, the Cannes circus last May was hilariously meta if one considers the behavior of the central character played by Kirsten Dunst in Melancholia.
Two sisters find their already strained relationship challenged as a mysterious new planet threatens to collide into the Earth.
The cast: Kirsten Dunst, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Charlotte Rampling, John Hurt
