Her sister is the eight top-selling female artist in the U.S. and has sold over 100 million records worldwide.
So it's no surprise that Britney Spears' little sister Jamie Lynn is eager to follow in her sibling's singing footsteps.
After taking a hiatus from the showbiz world to raise her daughter Maddie, now three, the 20-year-old made her musical debut last week, singing a country music set in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee.
Jamie Lynn took to the stage in front of a small crowd and performed two songs alongside an acoustic band.
Video of the performance, which recently surfaced online, shows Jamie Lynn singing at the Rutledge, a live music venue on 4th Avenue South.
At times her voice appeared a little on the shaky side, but mostly her singing chops were right on key, with the crowd seen eagerly cheering her own.
Both her parents, Jamie and Lynne, were in the crowd for the performance, and were said to be extremely proud of the younger Spears sibling.
'I am so emotional tonight,' Lynne said, according to People magazine.
'We are so proud of her,' added Jamie Snr.
Following the performance an excited Jamie Lynn took to her Twitter page to thank her friends and family
'Just wanna thank all my amazing friends and family for coming out tonight!!!' she wrote.
Britney, who is currently touring with her Femme Fatale show was not present at the gig, but had heard she did well and offered her congratulations.
'@britneyspears thanks- just wish you and J were there!! love yall!' Jamie Lynn tweeted back to her big sis.
While Jamie Lynn is no stranger to the spotlight - she appeared on two Nickelodeon shows, including 'All That' and playing Zoey Brooks on Zoey 101 from 2005-2008 - she had taken an hiatus from the spotlight in order to look after little Maddie.
Jamie fell pregnant with the toddler at the tender age of 16 and at the time described the news as a 'complete and total shock'.
The father of her child is tradesman Casey Aldridge, whom she first met at a local church.
They became engaged four months later after finding out the news.
But the couple called of their engagement in March 2009 with Jamie Lynn formally ending their relationship and moving out of the home they shared in February, last year.
The couple briefly reconciled in August 2010, but finally split for good months later in November.
Jamie's big sister Britney is currently busy traveling the world with her Femme Fatale tour.
She is currently in Brazil where she is scheduled to put on two concerts, and then tour the rest of South America.
