"Because the actors on the train are essentially performing the same eight minutes over and over again, the chemistry between Monaghan and Gyllenhaal was critical.

"He's incredibly animated and has a great sense of humour. I'd never seen that in any of his films before. We had a great time."
"I've taken a lot of public transport in my life and sometimes you strike up a conversation with a total stranger. And sometimes it's easier to be honest with someone you don't know than it is it with yourself or someone else in your life.
"This guy (Gyllenhaal plays) is like 'What are you doing? What have you got to lose? Leave your job, leave your loser guy -- you're a great girl, you have so much going for you, you're young, you have a lot of potential'. By the way, guys, these are things that women are desperate to hear."
Monaghan is married to graphic designer Peter White; they have a two-year-old daughter, Willow Katherine. And she doesn't hesitate when asked by one reporter the inevitable question: If she could go back in time and relive one moment, what would it be?
"My wedding. It was awesome. It was such a blur. We made the mistake of not videotaping it. I was kicking myself afterwards ... But I didn't want a camera floating around because people act differently when there's a camera around. I thought it would lose its level of intimacy."
