Barbra Streisand Steps Back Into The Director's Chair After 16 Years !

Barbra Streisand, 70, keeps on proving that she won't be defined by her age. Instead, she's doing something she hasn't done for 16 years: Directing!

Showbiz 411 reports that Babra will helm "Skinny and Cat," an "epic love story" starring Colin Firth and Cate Blanchett. The film is about a writer and a photojournalist's affair and will be independently financed. The release is slated for January 2013.

It has to be noted that Barbra's last directing gig was for 1996's "The Mirror Has Two Faces," starring herself, Jeff Bridges, Lauren Bacall and a host of other big names. That film earned a slew of Golden Globe and Oscars nods, with Bacall winning the former award for "Best Supporting Actress". Babra herself has won two Oscars, eight Grammys, five Emmys, a Special Tony and four Golden Globes.

It has to be mentioned that Streisand once wanted to star in "Skinny and Cat" across Robert Redford...
